Last week I mentioned being cosy and having Hygge moments, this week I’m wondering what month we’re in!
The weather really is mixed up, to wearing a jumper in the morning and taking it off in the afternoon, coat on, coat off. I know there are other problems elsewhere in the world, but it just needs to make up its mind; it’s looking warm next week too.
It’s been such a redonculously busy week, with the Theatre to see the, “Goes Wrong Show’ on Saturday, absolutely brilliantly, clever it was too, and a really fun 40th Birthday party (Jen, from our feastival team), as well as the Mother in law moving in nearby adding work on top and kids doing exams… it’s been a long week. But the sorting through of other people’s stuff can become quite tedious, especially when you feel you’re opening duplicate boxes day after day, scratching your head and thinking, I’m sure I opened this yesterday, to quickly realising that actually, they’re a hoarder of many, many things, I’m thinking of opening a shop of cutlery and cups alone… another café anyone!

Don’t be alarmed – I know, the alarm at the old Post Office premises on Fairburn Drive has been going off for what seems like days. I have contacted two contacts I have who I know may be able to do something about it – I’ve not received a reply as yet, so let’s hope it either runs out of battery or someone comes to sort it out asap.

It’s on the doorstep, have you ever been?
I paid a visit to Aberford Interiors the other day, I’m almost embarrassed to say it was my first time. What a place, so many beautiful things for sale, you could easily spend a fortune. Beautiful home furnishings, kitchenware, tableware, gifts and much more, including cakes to take away – pay a visit, it’s just on the right as you go into Aberford, just after Nanny Goat’s Farm
Also, pay a visit to, Vintage of Oulton there are so many great things, fabulous to nosy round and many items to buy from many collectors and sellers, some beautiful vintage furniture, and a great choice of unique and unusual items.
Planning
I see Pride and Produce’s old premises are finally being renovated, and there have been lots of rumours, as usual, about who the new owner will be, last I heard it was a wood fire dine pizza restaurant, but this is just, ‘Word on the Street’
New plans in, to build an Ancillary monopole for a 5G telecommunications wrap around cabinet. If I have read this right, it will be 15 meters high, and it will be on the grass area near East Garforth Train Station! I really need to know if we can paint these poles to fit in with the landscape, because they’re like a big pen sticking out of the ground.
Planning application in from Persimmon homes to demolish another dwelling for the new development of 290 homes off Selby Road – I do like the plans that actually show a cycle path leading from the new estate to Selby Road though – but I don’t like that all the houses can be built under different developments and there is no infrastructure thought out… the council are blind to let them through without new facilities for people who move in to the area! I do know a friend who went to view details about one of the bigger homes, and the price was approx. £500k… affordable for many then! https://bit.ly/30cIBNz
