Half Term is upon us, ‘yippee,’ shout the kids who break up at last, after an extremely tiring, first term back at school. I have seen a lot of children over the past few weeks, dragging their knuckles on the ground, walking to and from school, for some, Year 7 is a really hard adjustment, not just in the fact that it’s a whole new school with blokes and women in it; that’s kids in year 11 to you and me, but the walking, the carrying and general mileage they do around the school every day, soon takes its toll. Also, some have had Covid and brought it home to the whole family (which was going to happen) and some have had the general first term back, coughs, sneezes, and gross green stuff. The Thomboys are certainly relieved it’s their last week – hear what I had to say on this week’s VLOG If you missed it, along with a story about this amazing young local lady
Which feeds me nicely onto;
What’s going on this weekend?
As mentioned in this week’s VLOG – Rachel Forrester a young lady in our community is hosting an event at, Premier World Fitness this Sunday 24th October from 11 am – 3 pm in order she can raise even more funds to add to her JUST GIVING page in order she can help out the hospital that she feels, really did save her life in more ways than one. Listen to Rachel’s story here it’s truly humbling: https://fb.watch/8N0tsnIiWu/

Can you help?
Garforth in Bloom will be doing a general tidy up on Sunday 24th October, Meeting at 9.30 am at Jubilee Garden (next to the Gascoigne) The following Sunday, 31st October, they will be planting the winter beds at The Gaping Goose, again, at 9.30 am – CAN YOU HELP?
Sharing – Donate a little travel
If you have any adult or children’s bicycles in good working order please consider taking them to Garforth Methodist Church on Monday 1st November between 10 -12 and 2-4 pm. They are needed to help the Afghan refugees get around and keep healthy. Also, if you have any usable suitcases that you no longer need, they would be most grateful to receive them too. Thank you so much for your care at this difficult time.

Halloween is upon us – DON’T CUT IT AND CHUCK IT
According to Hubbub, 14.5 million Pumpkins are due to go uneaten this Halloween (that’s enough to make a bowl of soup for everyone in Britain) a HUGE amount of waste
It’s much better for you and the environment, and certainly a good new way to teach the next generation how to be less wasteful. You can easily draw on the outside or stencil onto your pumpkin to create something wonderful instead, some people completely paint them all over to change the colour and create something unique. If you’re off somewhere this half term, enjoy. I know I will love the escape, from many things
Until November 5th
