Is it Dec’s up this weekend?  Many people across our Garforth land have gone all out, already.  Lots of fairy, twinkly lights all set out to make everyone smile.  Which is funny really isn’t it, lots of people including ourselves, put Christmas decorations and lights up outside, for everyone else, we don’t really look at them, do we?  But it looks so lovely and it brings happiness to the streets of towns.

If you’re putting your decorations up, add a little bit of Jamie Cullum (as per a previous blog) a little bit of good hot chocolate (chocolate buttons can be purchased from Dumouchel) and lovely smelling candles can be bought from Candles by Janine… If you’re buying a tree, buy it locally and find out first, how you can dispose of it when you have finished with it, perhaps buying a potted one would be better.  This week’s Vlog tells you who’s selling them (link below) *

Well done to the Christmas Committee team last week who put on another great light switch.  Hats off to them, it’s hard work trying to pull everything together.  It’s a bit like a bowl full of salad, not everything in it, people will like!  I know this from helping in the organisation of  Feastival, getting everything spot on, is challenging.  However and, rightly so Debbie Todd, ‘Team Christmas,’ decided the weather was forecast to be horrendous, to hold the market on Saturday too; having liability issues really isn’t worth it, and It didn’t matter, as It sounds as though Garforth were out in force on Friday with short pockets, as lots of the stalls sold out – we do love good cake or three

The storm also brought some awful local tragedy at Nanny Goat Farm over in Aberford (the goats in Christmas jumpers farm) they had a tree fall on one of their barns and they lost chickens, luckily, not family members.  They were inundated with help, which was so nice to read, and so far, they have been able to sort some things out, reading their post, it could have been so much worse!  We hope Ian and Carol get the barn back up and running as soon as possible.

Garforth Musical Society needs performers

Garforth Musical Society is looking for actors, dancers, singers, musicians, and performers of all kinds to join us. If you are looking for a new hobby or are interested in getting involved, we are holding an open session on Tuesday 7th December at Garforth Methodist Church from 7.45 pm – 10.00 pm. We will, of course, be following all government guidelines and making sure everyone is safe. * A terrible accident happened yesterday on, Selby Road, near Micklefield.
