Half term is upon us, and it’s getting closer to the summer holidays too, yippee! People say I’m mad, wanting the summer break and the boys home for 6 weeks. But I love the warmer weather, the lack of stress and not screaming like a menopausal women (crap excuse) trying to rush children out of the door. There’s also no lunches to make, no shirts to iron, no homework to moan about, and mornings are a lot more chilled, and no screaming like a menopausal woman… !
This year, my eldest is completing his GCSE’s, he is far more prepared than I ever was and far more academic and knowledgeable than I ever was, he’s a clever little bugger, and I’ll take the credit! In 3 weeks’ time, he will be switching off from education for 2 whole months. Do you remember it, finishing your GCSEs and kicking back in the sand dunes with the boys from school – oh, perhaps that was just me! I’ll let him have a few weeks of brain relaxation, then he can find himself a summer job.. I loved that too. I worked on a Saturday in a retail shop called, SpendWise… big pants, bobbly jumpers, kids wellies, men’s socks, and T-shirts that lasted one wash. I loved the late 80s and early 90s, and it was a shop that guaranteed none of my friends would pop in to buy anything because it was a little bit naff. However, I learned people skills, it taught me money management, and gave me some sense of responsibility, everyone needs to do a Saturday job as it can shape the things you do going forward. I love how it’s getting warmer, all my dresses are out for summer, and ready to wear, the only issue is, if you wear a big print and nice perfume, the Bee mistakes you for a big F*ck off flower… if you see a scouse lady running screaming in a dress, send help
