Is the start of people thinking about Christmas and how it isn’t too far away; 12 more Saturdays I believe… yeah, yeah, I know, shut up Christine!  However, this year, many people will need to shop much earlier to help spread the cost, of what I feel will be a much more modest affair.  Normally we see October slump a little as people hold on to their Christmas spending money, but I know and have seen it’s not really slowed down yet.  When buying, think local, whether it’s gifts or food for the day… it’s far kinder on the pocket to go local.  I will be sharing many great posts in the lead-up, just follow and you may be surprised by what you can buy locally and how easy it is to access

I was sent an article this week about people signing up to warm spaces, this is so people who are struggling, can sign up to offer their space, whether it be a community hall, church, local business, or just a larger space that could be turned into a place people could go.   • Friday night – The Pizza Box Co will be at The Gaping Goose from 5-8pm

IEG are looking for volunteers at a dig – Meet at 4 pm at Garforth Community Wildlife area, Oak Grove – the plan is to clear areas and sow wildflower seeds – if you need to know more information, just contact the team https://www.facebook.com/ediblegarforth – All tools, gloves and kit will be provided.

Park it up

Over the years I have heard many people saying how they don’t drive to Main Street because they can’t park, or the traffic is far too busy! Planning

I heard this week that it is very unlikely the top bit of wasteland, that was due to go into planning for a new car park will ever be that! I am investigating further to find out why, but so far, I do know this..

The application submitted for a LCC regeneration grant of £55,000 had been granted.

This was to be used to convert the land to a car park. All car parking charges after maintenance and running costs were to be donated to local charities.

1. Someone in the Council has pulled it from planning

2. There are a few Trees that need protecting

I do hope the traders get this £55k money that was originally granted, it will be floating about somewhere!

 

  • VAPE… I hear there will be a new vape shop where Preditor Games once was.
