Welcome back, I hope you all had a nice half term, If you were off with the kids and managed to escape on holiday, even better! I didn’t, worse mistake ever… Every October half term, we have always had a break away, somewhere leafy, cosy, and cottagey (is that even a word, or could it mean something completely different?) anyway, we didn’t and all I did was jobs around the house… I would have much preferred to have been away kicking leaves about, eating pie and mash somewhere, and drinking Gin! Next time I won’t leave it so late.
Halloween was so much fun, the local kids were great, (the ones we saw) and the parents supervising them, were equally great, some even dressed up, which I loved. Some of the teeny tiny kids were so cute.. not a clue what was going on, but enjoying it all the same. Dressing up, looking scary (or cute), and knocking on strangers’ doors to be given sweets, AMAZING…. ! I wonder what I would have thought as a kid taking part in Trick or Treat, as it wasn’t really a thing when I was young, however being from the Wirral; posh side of Liverpool there were plenty of nights for tricks and treats!

I was a bit angry on the Vlog this week – well I am pre-menopausal, so it’s not my fault… but I really dislike it when people make you feel so annoyed, you can feel your blood boiling inside, their unjust actions, oh and how they treat people! Being local
Going out for drinks or food is always nice, so to be able to do it locally is even better, less time to get there and back, and in some cases, you can walk, but most importantly, you know your hard-earned money is staying in the local economy, what’s not to love? A few of our eateries and drink establishments are doing pop-ups, so keep an eye out. Last night we went to, Jiggar and Jar’s Taco’s and Tequila Mexican-themed night, drinks and food were really great, it was so well attended and the service and organisation were brilliant. I didn’t get many pictures of the food or the tequila we got to take away…nomnomnom
Lots of people ask me if I know when the new restaurant (old Barclays) will open, and I think many are hoping for a Christmas presence, unfortunately, I don’t know any details yet, but as soon as I do I will share… go local first, it’s far better for you!
I love a Christmas advert
Yes, they’re starting to filter in. M&S this week with Dawn French and this year with the addition of Jennifer Saunders! However, Asda is set to release its advert tonight. I think it’s going to be a hard one to follow, it’s an Elf’of an advert! I’ll wait for the John Lewis one which is soon to follow next week… I did make one a few years ago with Garforth Traders…. it was fun to do, not quite the same budget as these retail giants get though!

- This weekend – Millhouse Furniture and Interiors CHRISTMAS EDIT – great for beautiful furniture for your home
- Monday 7th November – The NHS will be holding a Covid Vaccination Clinic at Garforth Library and One Stop Centre on Monday between 1 pm-4 pm. No appointment is needed.

- Friday 25th November – Garforth Lights Switch on and Christmas Market 4.00pm -7.00pm
Lights are switched on at 7 pm with fireworks to end the night. The Christmas Market will be held on Friday only this year 11am -8 pm also our local Festive Farm in Pease car park 4-8 pm with Ian’s Mobile Farm (aka Nanny Goat Farm from Aberford)
Enjoy the firework night. I’m going all out and having a bonfire BBQ, we’re smoking a huge shoulder of pork for 15 people, and, having a fire outside whilst cooking marshmallows…. As I always say, take part and enjoy it all…because life is there for living.

Classical FM over the next 2 days from 5 pm will be playing a selection of soothing and calming songs for our pets. This can ease anxiety!
