I still see this so much in and around Garforth and it makes me so cross I want to use several unsavory words.. This is my ‘artist’s impression’ of people using their phones whilst driving… STILL!!! Looking down at it (WE CAN SEE YOU) If you’re one of these people, the question you need to ask yourself is.. ‘am I addicted to my phone that I can’t PUT IT AWAY for the time I am driving even if it means I could cause a crash, hurt someone or, get 6 penalty points and a £200 fine?’ if you hold and use a phone, sat nav, tablet, or any device that can send and receive data while driving or riding a motorcycle. You’ll also lose your licence if you passed your driving test in the last 2 years. – PUT IT AWAY or I’ll start a Taser group… threatening, I know!
Main Deal and The Menopause Exercise Class
Last week I put out a reel https://www.instagram.com/reel/Ck0lib2MfsI/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link asking people if they would be interested in a strengthening exercise class, similar to Pilates. I’m working with one of our local fitness professionals, and we are looking into the possibility of running a weekly class covering all things that will benefit your body and possibly mind as we approach, are in, or post, menopause. Have a listen, and if you feel it’s something you would be interested in, please let me add you to our list, and then we can get an idea if it’s something you lovely local ladies would like to get involved in.
Mum and Dad Fraud – money scam
There have been lots of news in the social media world about the above Scam and yesterday I received an email from the school, so thought it would be a good idea to share it here, on the blog. A message is sent to you, via a method of messaging, it could be text, Whatsapp, or any social media messaging platform. It’s where someone sends a message falsely claiming to be your son or daughter. The message usually suggests they have changed mobile phone numbers due to an emergency or similar and are in need of some cash sent to them.
- My suggestion here would be to ask for a password that only you and your children have discussed and pick one that only your family will know.

- Monday 28th November Garforth Camera Club – Community Portraits Evening
On the 28th of November, we will be running a family portrait session in the Miner’s Welfare Hall. This will be from 8 pm-10 pm in the main hall, downstairs. This is a great opportunity to have portraits taken in time for Christmas. We will have a large white backdrop set up, with members on hand to either assist in taking the pictures or provide help and guidance or take the pictures fully, this is totally your choice. We will provide you with a suitable image that you can either take away on the night (please bring a suitable USB memory stick) or have emailed at a later date, this could be printed for family keepsakes or used on calendars, mugs, or keyrings (no limit on usage). Maybe even a family Christmas card!
No fixed time slots, purely on a first come first served basis. No images from the night will be used online. No charge on the night, any donations welcome will be donated to a local charity.
We look forward to providing Garforth locals with some excellent images!
