The weather is set to turn cold next week, with no sign of any spring, I feel the only nod to Spring will be me in the flowery frock…… with a jumper, a coat, scarf, a hat, and some fancy gloves!  But exactly when, is snow forecast to hit Leeds?  They’re saying from Sunday, we’ll head into these mild temperates..  -2c and it may continue for 5 days.  Unless it’s going to come and dump a load of the white fluffy stuff, stay away… I’m not interested in sleet, a flutter, or slush; sounds like an amazing day out!  Anyway, this is your wrap-up warning, should the forecast be correct.  Read here https://bit.ly/3kRcGN0

Don’t get Smart

Please do not buy your parents or grandparents a smartphone, if they are NEVER, EVER going to want to use the smart…  my husband and I have had numerous sessions with parents who are frightened to use the smart bit, and no amount of repeated effort or time given to show them, will EVER, I say EVER allow them to WANT to understand the positives of having a smart device.  However, do you think it may be us?  Perhaps we shouldn’t be the ones teaching them, perhaps it all brings back bad memories of homeschooling but on a different level, with the same twitches?

So, here’s a solution… if you want to take this unbearable task of trying to teach your elderly loved ones, then delegate it to the monthly sessions held at Garforth Library, The Digital 121 drop–in where you could drop off instead.

1st and 3rd Wednesday of every month 1-2 pm

Get them smart, without your help; unless they ask more questions when they return!! ahhhhhhhhh

 

You can’t see them, but they’re still present

In April we will be working with Barclays Bank to help bring an event to Garforth for all businesses (no I am not receiving anything monetary for helping this event go ahead) As Barclays is no longer present on our high street, they want to show businesses they are still very much here to help, and will have many people from different sectors of Barclays who will be there to assist – We are looking to hold it at, The Welfare Hall on a Thursday afternoon – more details will be released very soon – this could be really helpful for existing or new businesses, big or small.

Planning

On Tuesday, the large tree before the bridge at Garforth Train station is needed to be cut down, it may cause some disruption – all woodchips, and logs are being donated to a local community project right here in Garforth

You can also see at the station the new information board that shows you the works and plans that will be carried out from March 2023 and June 2024 when the old and new bridges will start; I did say on the vlog don’t expect this year – but the main thing is, it’s starting – brilliant news for people who need access
