Snowwww, it finally arrived. I feel we may have many kids turning to a new religion after they prayed really hard last night for a snow day… because it really worked! Snow is for kids or big kids. I’m glad my request last week was for a big dump of it, it’s much more fun if you can make something out of it, A snow person, a ball, a willy… yes, one was made, I saw the photo evidence, and it was an impressive build with added artistic fleur; no it didn’t stand up!
But it’s not all fun, I felt sorry for all those stuck on the M62 last night and those not able to fly today, whatever their reason is to travel, it would have been very bleak being stuck on the motorway overnight…They say don’t travel if you don’t need to, but take out the few idiots who think ‘it’ll be reet’ and feel for the people who are in the minority of people who need to travel. Independent Women’s Day – week
Who and why do we need to celebrate it, hear more on this week’s Vlog https://bit.ly/3J6rboy and find out who my inspirational women are, you may be surprised. Believe it or not, it has quite a way to go, quite a way to be understood as to why, since 1911 when the first ever IWD was celebrated, why we still need to push for awareness. One female friend doesn’t get it and think’s it’s ridiculous. One male friend doesn’t understand it and thinks it’s all a load of s**t.
This to me means one or two things, 1. They have little understanding or no personal issue with being a female in the workplace 2. They are already a progressive company so therefore everyone is equal… 3. They need to do a lot more research into why we need to show equity equals equality.

Message to all the residents of the local villages around Garforth, Kippax, Allerton Bywater etc.
It’s no secret that there has been an increase in attempted burglaries throughout the last week or so in the early hours. All the local Facebook groups have posted images of the four suspects going into gardens etc. Please can I ask people to make sure their car doors and house doors are locked and secure at all times.
If you have a keyless entry car then make sure the keys are in a protective pouch or tin of some kind.
We are doing our best to patrol the area and have increased the patrols throughout the night. We have some good footage of the suspects and will be investigating all the crimes that have been recorded and the footage sent in.

I see the Crusader opened its newly renovated doors last Thursday. There have been mixed reviews about the upgrade, but I feel if the toilets have been updated, then we’re all good. The whispers were right that it was to continue to be a sports bar, and there is no sign yet if there will be a food offering, or even a light bite option. It would be good if they could do a deal with Hilltons chippy wouldn’t it… just a thought – As it also remains dog friendly, I’ll have to pop by, you know just to see what these mixed reviews about the lick of paint are all about.

I hear there are a fair few disgruntled people who have expressed their concerns, opinions, and general disgust (yes disgust) on social media about this first makers’ market. Speaking from experience – People will only like your presence when they see the benefit to themselves – don’t worry though, many people are really looking forward to it, and may it be a successful market that grows
Planning
An information letter was recently sent to the Traders on Main Street informing them of new additional extras which will be brought to the Street. I believe the funds from the planning of the top car park (that didn’t go ahead) have been allocated to these ‘new things’ and, as mentioned in an earlier blog, it may be some extra places to sit. Surprisingly, the new additions to the main street were not up for discussion, consultation, or debate with the Traders!… I believe, the money set out for the car park didn’t automatically mean it was for the Traders, but you’d think a discussion would have been had as to what they thought the money would be best spent. Perhaps if they are additional places to sit, maybe time spent to have a sit and think about any future spending would be a good idea!
