WOW – where did that decade go?

In 2013, I initiated a study to gauge the interest of local businesses and the community in establishing a connection. The objective was to determine whether businesses required support in promotion and if the community was eager to stay informed about local offerings. Fortunately, by 2014, my research indicated a positive response. This led to the launch of The Main Deal website, marking the beginning of our journey with a growing membership and following

Over the past decade, we’ve witnessed numerous transformations—not only in the content we share but also in the evolution of the local high street. In my opinion, the changes have been for the better. While there are always those who ‘yearn’ for a return to say, 1981, I believe a significant number appreciate the growth, hoping that Garforth and the surrounding villages continue to flourish with diversity and local job opportunities…. Because it makes sense, doesn’t it?

For the past year, I’ve delved back into research, contemplating the next steps as it feels like we’ve reached a plateau. Many town, talk, community, past, present, and gossip pages have become primary platforms for a diverse audience seeking ‘just enough’ information. Recognising this trend, we need to align with the preferences of our audience, understanding their wants and needs to navigate the future successfully. It’s all YappApp

I have followed this page diligently to stay updated on any news relevant to Garforth and the surrounding area. I aim to help you stay informed about news stories that may impact you directly. For instance, if there’s a road traffic collision causing blockages, I strive to provide timely information, so you can keep clear of the incident or find alternative routes. I genuinely hope that this information has proven to be helpful to you.

However, as platforms like YappApp increasingly focus on visual content, showcasing real-time events and, unfortunately, highlighting various crimes in and around the city, I find it challenging (I say challenging, It frightens the sh** out of me) to continue to follow their platforms. This shift not only induces fear but also raises ethical concerns, particularly when sensitive incidents, such as car accidents with uncertain outcomes, are displayed, including car registration details. I believe it’s not appropriate, and I am personally unwilling to witness or share such distressing content.

In response, I’ve been exploring alternative sources to gather information, ensuring that I can still provide you with relevant news updates without exposing you to unpleasant or distressing material,
