Welcome, March! January lingered a bit too long, and February flew by in a Woosh (no, I’m not endorsing Tesco’s speedy shopper, but it is handy ). As we step into March, amidst the upcoming celebrations of Mother’s Day and Easter, it seems like another month where the desire for a bit more cash is in the air. While I’m all for embracing family-centric festivities, the cascade from Mother’s Day to grandparents and even dog cards feels like an unnecessary financial expedition, then comes the chocolate… which is kind of good!

Now, don’t misunderstand me; I won’t complain about breakfast in bed. Yet, the reality dawns when you realise you’re not only orchestrating your own celebration but also navigating the waters of maternal appreciation for your mum and mother-in-law. (meh) A card and perhaps a little help from the significant other in the kitchen – is quite enough thank you

In the early years of parenting, it’s almost comical how we willingly part with our hard-earned money to receive something we probably don’t need. Perhaps I’m adopting a more northern or even Yorkshire mindset after 26 years of living here.  Has the regional charm finally rubbed off on me….. hold onto those pennies!

• Activity is underway at Dorothy Anne’s old premises, particularly concerning the measurements for shutters and security enhancements. However, we’re still in anticipation, awaiting confirmation regarding the rumoured tenants scheduled to move into the space. The uncertainty has sparked a bit of speculation among Garforth residents and businesses, so let’s see when the signs are up if everyone’s happy  – lol, of course not everybody will be happy!!!
